Ian Tomasic - Secretary

Ian Tomasic is a life-long resident of Kansas City who was was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas. After graduating from Bishop Ward High School, Ian earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, with an outside emphasis in sociology, from Kansas State University. Thereafter, Ian earned his Juris Doctorate from Washburn University Law School, where he graduated with Dean’s Honors.

Following his admission to practice law in the State of Kansas, Ian worked as an Assistant District Attorney at the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office in Kansas City, Kansas. While at the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office, Ian tried felony level cases and argued in front of the Kansas Court of Appeals.

In 2016, Ian accepted an attorney position with Immigration and Customs Enforcement within the Department of Homeland Security. Currently, Ian specializes in cases involving human rights abusers and potential denaturalization cases.

​

Having family in law enforcement and working with law enforcement on a daily basis, Ian recognizes the need for programs that emphasize the mental well being of our first responders. Ian recognizes the opportunity to serve as a director on the Board of Governors for SWEL is an excellent opportunity to give back to our community and support first responders. Ian looks forward to the continued growth and outreach of SWEL, not only in our local community, but across the nation.
